Uncle Ducky Outfitters

Fly Fishing Strawberry Lake

Type of Trip:  Float and/or Wading
Species Fished For:  Brook Trout
Open For Reservation:  May 1st through June 30th

Strawberry Lake is perfect for anyone who’s first learning to fly fish.  Practice your casts, placement, and presentation without the worries of current or back casting into brush.  Not to mention, the sheer volume of strikes also allows for you to perfect your hook set.  During a hatch, this lake just boils with rising brook trout.

Even the experienced angler will find this trip extremely enjoyable.  Everyone likes to catch a lot of trout!   For more of a challenge, but with the rewards of huge brook trout, one can fish the deeper water to try to coax out trophy brookies.

Fly Fishing the Yellow Dog River

Type of Trip:  Wading
Species Fished For:  Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout
Open For Reservation:  May 1st through September 30th

This is an ideal river for the beginner to learn on or advanced angler looking for an easy day.  With a huge population of hungry trout and easy to fish pools, this is a perfect river to practice dry fly presentations or just break in that new fly rod.  These fish are forgiving.

The average size of these fish may not be as large as some other rivers, but the number you hook make it a very enjoyable trip.  However, don’t be fooled, these deep pools have been known to surprise many when they hook into a huge lunker they weren’t expecting.

Fly Fishing the Fox River

Type of Trip:  Float and/or Wading
Species Fished For:  Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout
Open For Reservation:  May 1st through September 30th

Whether you’re looking to float the deep runs of the main river or to wade the East Branch, we’ve got a trip for you.

The Fox River is classified as a “blue ribbon” trout stream here in Michigan and with good reason.  It is a fly fisherman’s dream.  With perfect trout habitat, this river is known for consistently producing huge brook trout.  Undercut banks, deep pools, and perfect riffles have also been very helpful in developing a good rainbow and brown trout population.

The feel of Montana, without the crowds!  A productive river throughout the trout season, we begin offering trips in May and continue through the end of the season in September.  Be sure to check our hatch calendar to help book your trip!

Fly Fishing the Escanaba River

Type of Trip:  Float and/or Wading
Species Fished For:  Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout
Open For Reservation:  May 1st through September 30th

The Escanaba River is one of the biggest rivers we fish in the area and as the adage says, “The bigger the river, the bigger the fish.”  Some of the brown trout caught here easily measure out past the 20 inch mark, but be prepared to work for them.

The Escanaba has proven to be a technical river to fish.  With plenty of seams, riffles, pools, and plenty of room to cast, this river offers a great environment for those interested in all methods of fly fishing.  Whether you want to nymph or cast a dry fly, theirs plenty of river for both.

Be ready to match the hatch and bring your “A” game for these massive browns!

Spring Steelhead in the Rivers

Our Tributary Rivers here in the Lake Superior watershed open for fishing on the last Saturday in April and are very good fishing up until about Memorial Day when the runoff starts to slow and the Steelhead have spawned and migrated back out into the lake.

We have three primary rivers in the Marquette area that are excellent Steelhead spawing rivers and in which are very accessible for fishing. The Carp, Chocolay, and Little Garlic rivers are are favorites in this area. We also use the Iron, Huron, and Falls rivers which are within about an hours drive away.

We have everything you need for this outing including rods, reels, lures, or flies, nets, and waders. Our guides are there to assist and teach you in the techniques of catching the Steelhead which is notable as the best fishing fish in the Great Lakes region.

If you haven't done this type of fishing before and would like to learn. No Problem, thats what we are here for. Many folks have started with us on the streams and rivers and are now enjoying this sport and have become very good at it.

Our Spring Steelhead in the rivers package includes:
